Java is important in Posterita as it is used to print receipt after processing a sale. Java frequently update its version for bug fixes and updates, it is necessary to have the latest version of Java installed on the machine.

Follow the steps below to Update Java;

1) After login on https://my.posterita.com, you will notice a red icon appearing on the top right corner of the browser on Firefox. Click on the red icon.

2) A popup will appear you can choose to click on Allow and Remember if you don’t want to update Java at this time but the red icon will continue to appear. To update the Java click on Update Now.

3) After clicking on Update now, you will be redirected to Java site where you can download and update the Java. Click on Free Java Download to Proceed.

4) Click on Agree and Start Free Download to start downloading the online installer.

5) A confirmation popup will open and click on Save File.

6) The file will start to download and after downloading click on the Download icon from Firefox and click on the file.

7) Click on Run to start downloading and installing the Java.

8) A confirmation popup will appear and click on Install.

9) Wait for the application to download the Java installer.

10) After downloading if you already have a previous version of Java installed on the machine, It will prompt to uninstall the old version as this may cause conflicts. Click on Uninstall to remove older version.

11) Wait for Java to remove the older version on the machine.

12) A confirmation popup will appear after the uninstallation is complete. Click on Next.

13) Java will install the latest version and give a confirmation popup.

14) You can verify that the right version has been installed. A new window will automatically open so that you verify the Java installed. Click on Verify Java Version to proceed.

15) You may need to activate the Java on your browser, click on Activate Java.

16) After clicking on Activate Java, Firefox may prompt if you want to Allow Java. Click on Allow and Remember.

17) Click on Run to verify the Java version installed.

18) Java will check the version installed and you will get a confirmation page.

19) To ensure that Java is correctly loaded on https://my.posterita.com, you need to clear your browser cache and cookies. You can do so by tapping Ctrl+Shift+Del or by clicking on Option / History / Clear Recent History. Choose Cookies and Cache and click on Clear Now.

20) Login to Posterita from http://my.posterita.com. Note that you will be required to re-enter your business name (Here it is a test account).

21) Click on Login and enter your username and password to login into your account.

22) After login you will be required to choose your store and terminal. Click on Login.

23) A popup will appear asking to run the Java application, click on Run.

24) Another confirmation popup will appear. Click on OK to allow your browser to connect with the printer.

25) To setup your hardware you need to go to Menu / Hardware setting.

26) On the hardware setup page you will require to select the Printer you are using to print receipt. Here the printer has been setup Generic / Text Only. Please choose your receipt printer name.

 

The printer line width is the number of characters that be printed per line on the receipt. The default value is 40, you keep the same or increase it if your printer can print more characters per line.

 

Select the option Enable Print to enable the receipt printing after processing a sale. Click on save to Save the changes. You can click on Test printer to ensure that the printer is working correctly.
